When I think of the wedding photographers who inspire me the most, they not only have gorgeous images, they have gracious hearts. Katelyn James is a wedding photographer in Richmond who I’ve been following online for years. I knew she hosted photography workshops, but I never could get my travel plans and budget together, as much as I desperately wanted to go. By some miracle, I won a giveaway to attend her spring workshop! Now, you probably know that I’ve won a lot of giveaways, but this one was HUGE! There are no words to describe what a blessing it was.
The Workshop Experience was only nine hours, but I could have sworn it was three days because it was so exciting and eventful! Katelyn shared so much about photography branding, editing and workflow, posing, and more. Actually, she shared so much that I felt like her intern or best friend. Her talent, openness, and servant heart is transforming the wedding industry. I’m already seeing results from what I learned at the workshop – my posing is getting stronger, my editing is getting done faster, and my client experience is getting sweeter.
I adored the Valentine’s Day styled shoot! The vibrant pops of fuchsia, beautiful fragrant blooms, and sassy glitter heels were swoon worthy. Getting the creative shots I wanted with fifteen photographers was challenging, so I mostly tried to focus on what Katelyn was saying during the shoot. I had an Engagement Shoot the day after the workshop, so that gave me a chance to practice Katelyn’s signature “Posing Evolution” while it was still fresh in my mind. I could go on and on about everything I loved about the workshop, but just enjoy these lovely photographs.
